🫓 Turkish Pide

Traditional Turkish pide with a soft, fluffy interior and lightly crisp edges. Shaped like a boat and topped with cheese, meat, or vegetables, this versatile bread is perfect for sharing.

Ingredients
  

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 1 cup instant yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 3 tbsp olive oil

Method
 

  1. In a bowl, mix flour, salt, sugar, and yeast.
    Raw ingredients for making homemade Turkish Pide including flour, ground meat, vegetables, eggs, and spices arranged on a marble surface.
  2. Add warm water and olive oil, then knead until a soft dough forms.
  3. Cover and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
    Hands shaping and folding the edges of Turkish Pide dough over the meat filling before baking.
  4. Preheat oven to 220°C (425°F).
  5. Divide dough into 4 equal pieces and roll into oval shapes.
  6. Fold the edges slightly inward to create a boat shape and pinch the ends.
  7. Add desired filling to the center.
  8. Bake for 12–15 minutes until golden.
  9. Add an egg on top during the last 3 minutes if using.
  10. Serve hot.

Notes

  • Brush edges with egg wash or olive oil for shine.
  • Sprinkle sesame or nigella seeds on the crust.
  • Serve with yogurt or fresh salad.
